RESOURCES
Choosing the right resources
We always look for the right resources when designing each collection. Our goal is to ensure that our products are not only safe for children, but also produced fairly for everyone in the supply chain. To do this, we pay attention to various labels and certificates that show which raw materials make less impact or do not contain harmful substances, for example, but also to the composition of our fabrics. Below, we like to highlight 3 characteristics/certificates.
1. BIO- COTTON: In our clothing, we try to use organic cotton as much as possible. The difference with traditional cotton lies in the production. No pesticides and chemicals are used during the production of organic cotton. In addition, the techniques and materials used have a lower impact on the environment. As a result, growing organic cotton is better for both the environment and the farmers who grow it.
2. GOTS: GOTS is an international label that stands for Global Organic Textile Standard. GOTS sets environmental requirements for all phases of the textile chain: from growing (natural) fibres to processing and sewing workshops. This aims to ensure ecological and social sustainability throughout the process.
3. OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100: At Filou & Friends, we value the health and safety of our customers. That is why it is important to us that there are no harmful chemicals in our fabrics. The OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 helps us with this. It is a health label for textiles that guarantees that no harmful substances or chemicals can be found in the raw material.
EU suppliers: For our raw materials, we always look at European suppliers first. Over the years, we have built up a good relationship with several European suppliers, who always help us to look for fabrics that meet our quality requirements and values. Most of our raw materials come from Portugal and Spain.
