Filou & Friends x BiePaulus: Discover our own Filou honey!
Since early May, there have been bees at our headquarters. As many as seven bee colonies have found their home in the Filou garden. And as everyone knows, bees play a very crucial role in our nature! For the past few months, the bees have been busy filling their combs with delicious honey. We have all been waiting with excitement, and now the moment has finally arrived. The full combs of honey are ready to be harvested!
The honey is first swirled. By hand, the wax layer was scraped off the cells filled with honey. Then the combs go through a kind of centrifuge (honey pendulum) and by spinning, the honey is hurled out of the cells.
So this artisanal honey requires a lot of work. Therefore, we could not do this process ourselves. For that, we enlisted the help of local beekeepers with their hearts in the right place. We chose to collaborate with BiePaulus: 3 dads from Sint-Paulus School in Kortrijk who together voluntarily take care of beehives all over Kortrijk for charity. Together with the students of that school, they take care of the various hives, learn about the importance of bees and make honey all by themselves. All profits from the honey go to children at the school who are a little less fortunate. BiePaulus wants to give every child the chance to grow up worry-free. A mission that sounds all very close to our ears. With this cooperation we hope to help even more children go through life playing.
This delicious honey is now on sale in our 16 stores. Profits go entirely to the charity of BiePaulus.
